Senior Living
Places to stay — from faith-based homes to golf-estate retirement living.
The Next Chapter is a directory of senior living options across Kenya that we've come across in our own work: care homes, retirement villages and lifestyle estates, spanning budget to premium. These aren't our partners — just places worth knowing about. Wherever you choose, we can get the family there for a visit, and help with the move itself.
01 · Budget & charity
Faith-based & NGO homes
Low-cost or free residential care for destitute or abandoned elderly people, run by churches, charities and community organisations rather than for profit.
Ashram Old Age Home
A faith-based home offering shelter and basic care for elderly residents with nowhere else to turn.
Nyumba ya Wazee
Run by the Catholic Little Sisters of the Poor, caring for elderly residents regardless of their ability to pay.
Cheshire Home for the Elderly
Part of the Cheshire Disability Services network, providing low-cost residential care for elderly and destitute residents.
Thogoto Home for the Aged
A long-running faith-based home for elderly residents in Kikuyu, Kiambu County.
Akiniita Foundation
An NGO-run foundation supporting destitute and abandoned elderly people in Nairobi.
Eillen Moffat Care
Charity-oriented elder care serving the Karen and Langata area.
Kasarani Home for the Elderly

Karen Brookdale Retirement Home
Charity-oriented retirement accommodation in Nairobi.
My Parents Care Older People Home
A charity-run home focused on dignified care for older people with limited means.
02 · Middle-class
Paid, structured nursing care
Professional nursing without the premium price tag — a comfortable middle ground for families who need paid care but not luxury positioning.
SJ Remedial Homes
Paid, professional nursing care in a structured, private setting.
Harrison House Retirement Home
Run by the East Africa Women's League on two acres of grounds.
Fourshift Care Centre
A dedicated elderly care centre on the Kiambu side of Nairobi.
ElimerCare
Positioned close to hospital services for quick access when it's needed.
Mama Africa Home for the Elderly
One of the few paid options outside the Nairobi & Kiambu corridor.
04 · Retirement villages
Buy in to independent living
Own your own unit inside a gated, amenity-rich community — independent living with support close at hand, rather than staffed nursing care.
Fadhili Retirement Village
Kenya's first purpose-built retirement village. Cottages from roughly KES 9.98M (one-bedroom) to KES 11.98M (two-bedroom), inside a gated community built around a clubhouse with an on-site medical clinic, gym, spa and pool — plus wheelchair-accessible walkways and ramps throughout.
05 · Lifestyle estates
Golf & beach gated estates
Not staffed care homes — gated, amenity-rich estates that affluent Kenyan and diaspora families buy into for retirement or a second home, drawn by the security, the grounds and the setting.
Vipingo Ridge
PGA golf course, private beach club and its own airstrip — a popular downsizing choice for the coast.
Great Rift Valley Villas
Villas and cottages inside a lakeside golf-resort estate, roughly an hour from Nairobi.
Windsor Golf Estate
Golf-and-country-club-anchored gated estate popular with older, affluent buyers.
Thika Greens Golf Estate
A golf-anchored gated estate on the Thika Road corridor, within easy reach of the city.
About this list: these are not our partners, and this isn't an endorsement — it's an informational list drawn from our own research and each place's public information as of September 2026. Pricing and availability change, so confirm directly with whichever facility you're considering. Let us know if you’d like more information on a facility — or, when you reach out to one directly, feel free to mention you came across them through NEMT Kenya.

Frequently asked questions
Are these your partner facilities?
No — we don't have a formal relationship with any of them. This is an informational list, not an endorsement or a partner network. Confirm current pricing, availability and fit directly with whichever facility you're considering.
Can you drive us to visit one of these places?
Yes — that's what we actually do. Book a transfer for a viewing, or for the move itself, the same way you would for any other trip. See Contact & Book a Ride.
Can you help if my family is abroad?
Yes — we get a fair number of enquiries from the diaspora arranging things back home. Tell us the arrival flight and we'll handle airport pickup and every leg after it. If it's warm weather as much as care your parents are after, the coastal options (Vipingo Ridge, Kilulu in Mombasa) are worth a look — both sit inside secure, established, year-round-warm communities.
Is this list kept up to date?
We'll refresh it as we learn more. If something here is out of date, or you know a place that should be on it, let us know via the contact details below.
Need to get there?
We don't run any of these homes — but we can get you to one.
Whichever place you're considering, we can drive the family out for a visit, and later help with the move itself. Ask about the chef-and-caregiver add-on for estate living, or just book a ride the usual way.
